Richard Goodall’s Compelling Version of Reba’s Classic Revives the Cherished Track with Sincere Feeling

Randy Houser and Dallas Davidson wrote the original version of the song “Back to God,” which was first included on Randy Houser’s album “Anything Goes” in 2008. Houser’s rendition, though, did not gain the same level of popularity as Reba McEntire’s later rendition.

“Back to God,” which Reba McEntire recorded in 2017, was well-received by critics. The song was released by McEntire as a part of her album “Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope,” which is a compilation of songs with a faith and hope theme. She selected “Back to God” because of its stirring message of prayer and turning to faith in the face of adversity and suffering.

The singer of the song bemoans the violence and suffering in the world and prays for people to return to God in order to find comfort and serenity. “Back to God” struck a deep chord with listeners with its timely and universal message, particularly in light of contemporary issues like social crises and natural disasters.

Richard Goodall’s cover

The gifted vocalist Richard Goodall created a special rendition of the song “Back to God” during his performance. In contrast to the original, Goodall frequently performs in a more passionate and real manner, honoring the song while still putting his own unique stamp on it. His voice carries warmth and sincerity that turns the song from a prayer into a deeply personal message.
