Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has confirmed a major expansion into Saudi Arabia through the construction of a massive 500-megawatt data center — the company’s largest outside the United States. The project will be developed in partnership with Humain, the Kingdom’s state-backed AI initiative, and supported by Nvidia’s high-performance computing hardware. This signals a major leap in Saudi Arabia’s mission to become a global technology hub.
The announcement was made during an investment forum in Washington, D.C., where Saudi officials and xAI representatives emphasized the importance of regional AI infrastructure. A facility of this scale can power millions of AI queries per second, support advanced model training, and enable widespread deployment of xAI’s chatbot, Grok, across the Middle East. It also reflects the Kingdom’s aggressive investment in next-generation technologies as part of Vision 2030.

By situating such a large data center in Saudi Arabia, xAI strengthens its global network while giving the region greater access to cutting-edge AI systems. Saudi Arabia has already invested heavily in cloud computing and semiconductor partnerships, and this project further cements its role in the race for AI dominance. If completed on schedule, the facility will become one of the most powerful AI data centers in the world.
