Richard Goodall steps out of his comfort zone with a stunning cover of ‘Separate Ways’ that’s just like the original

“Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” was an upbeat song about realizing a relationship has ended and being resolved to find it again, rather than creating a depressing ballad.

After a day, Cain and Perry showed their song to the other members of the group, and during soundcheck, they began enhancing it. Before the band had an opportunity to record it, Journey began inserting “Separate Ways” into their nightly concerts, and the song instantly struck a chord with the crowd.

“This song has always had a big influence on the audience, all the way back to the first time we played it—before it was even recorded,” Schon remarked in 2008. It doesn’t matter where we put it. “We wrote it while on tour and included it in the set to test the reaction.” Even though they didn’t know what it was, the audience responded to it in an incredible way.
