The audience hopes that Richard Goodall will remain humble, considerate, and sincere if he wins the $1 million prize. Richard revealed his plans to retire and live happily with his fiancée after receiving the award

America’s Got Talent Richard Goodall, the modest singing janitor, is the undisputed breakthrough star of AGT 2024. His audition in late May, during which he sang a rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” earned him a coveted Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum, propelling him directly to the live concerts. Over 15 million people have viewed the video of his AGT performance on YouTube, leaving fans curious about his journey, current location, his ability to sing songs other than Journey covers, and the date of his next appearance on the NBC talent program. Here’s all we know so far about Richard Goodall on America’s Got Talent Season 19.

Richard Goodall, 55, of Terra Haute, Indiana, still works as a janitor at West Vigo Middle School and sings with his band, ManOpause.

He says he isn’t letting stardom get to his head in an interview with WTWO WAWV on May 31, and you can see him fixing lights at the school. “I am still myself,” Goodall stated. “I’m currently at West Vigo Middle School.” “How could I possibly turn into a diva when that’s not who I am?” Goodall asked. It’ll never happen. I am not a fancy person; I never have been and never will be.”

This is not the first time Goodall has been an internet star. In May 2022, a TikTok video of him playing “Don’t Stop Believin’” in front of an audience of elementary school students went viral. Steve Perry, the lead vocalist of Journey, saw his performance and commented on the video with “I love this” on Twitter.

Goodall will appear on AGT 2024 during the live events in August.

The live events for America’s Got Talent Season 19 will begin on August 13; however, it is unknown which episode Goodall will appear in. This stage of the competition will be from August 13 to September 18, so we’ll see him perform at least once in a semi-final before seeing if he makes it through his bracket to the finals.

The janitor must receive enough votes to obtain one of two semi-finalist spots to go to the AGT 2024 Final, where he will compete for the $1 million top prize and a Las Vegas residency. If he makes it to the conclusion, there’s a chance he’ll play alongside a great, like Steve Perry, during a live results presentation.

America’s Got Talent will likely announce the list of artists that will appear in each live episode shortly. We anticipate the announcement of Goodall’s future appearances on the program following the first set of auditions, and we will update this guide accordingly.

What songs can Richard Goodall sing?

Goodall has a diverse repertoire of songs that he might perform on AGT, in addition to Journey covers, for which he is most known.

Goodall can sing a variety of tunes on Tiktok, where he uploads videos under the username “rg69rich” and refers to himself as the “Janitor with pipes!” He includes covers of “Old Time Rock & Roll” by Bob Seger, “Biggest Part of Me” by Ambrosia, and “More Than Words” by Extreme. Various YouTube videos have also featured Goodall singing additional songs. He performed a rendition of Shinedown’s “Daylight” and Randy Houser’s “Anything Goes” on stage.

Given Goodall’s outstanding repertoire of classic rock tunes and country music, he has plenty of options for his semi-final and final performances on AGT. Whatever song he selects, it will ideally highlight his strong and soulful voice without limiting him to a specific genre.
